Plain-English version (the short one)
- I run this website. I'm a one-person operation. I don't sell your data — to anyone, ever.
- If you sign up for the newsletter, your email goes to ConvertKit so I can send you recipes. That's it.
- This site uses cookies for analytics (so I know which recipes are popular) and for ads (so I can keep the lights on). You can opt out — see the cookie banner at the bottom of any page.
- If you comment on a recipe, your name and email are stored so I can reply.
- You have the right to ask me what data I have on you and to delete it. Email hello@liftandbake.com.
The full legal version is below.

2. What information we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Newsletter signups — your email address, and optionally your first name, when you join the mailing list.
- Comments — your name, email, website (if provided), and the comment content when you leave a comment on a recipe post.
- Contact form submissions — your name, email, and the content of your message.
- Purchases (if applicable) — billing details when you buy a digital product (handled by our payment processor; we do not store card numbers).
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we (and our service providers) may automatically collect: IP address and approximate location, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages you visit and time spent, and cookie/tracking data.
2.3 Information from third parties
Pinterest, Instagram, and similar platforms may share aggregated, non-identifying data about traffic they send us.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to send the newsletter and updates you've opted in to; respond to comments, questions, and contact form submissions; operate, maintain, and improve the Site; understand which content is popular (analytics); display relevant advertising (see Section 5); process purchases of digital products; comply with legal obligations; and detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.
4. Cookies and tracking technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies fall into categories: strictly necessary (required for the site to function), performance/analytics (Google Analytics, used to understand site usage), advertising (used by ad partners — see Section 5), and functional (preferences such as recently viewed recipes).
You can control cookies through our cookie consent banner, your browser settings, or the opt-out tools listed in Section 5. Refusing certain cookies may limit some features.
5. Advertising and affiliate links
5.1 Display ads
We may use third-party advertising networks (Google AdSense, Mediavine, Raptive, or similar). These networks use cookies and other technologies to serve ads relevant to you. You can learn more and opt out at:
- Network Advertising Initiative
- Digital Advertising Alliance
- Your Online Choices (EU)
- For mobile: your device's "Limit Ad Tracking" setting
5.2 Affiliate links
Some links on this Site are affiliate links — we earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programs. See our Disclaimer for the full disclosure.
6. Email marketing (ConvertKit)
When you sign up for the newsletter, your email address (and any other info you provide) is stored and processed by ConvertKit (also known as Kit). You can review their privacy policy at convertkit.com/privacy. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
7. Comments and Gravatar
When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata (including your IP address) are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. If you have a Gravatar account associated with your email, your profile photo may appear next to your comment. You can request deletion of your comments and associated data at any time.
8. Analytics
We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4) to understand how visitors use the Site. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
9. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us run the Site (hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing), legal authorities when required by law, or a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information; withdraw consent at any time; and file a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@liftandbake.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
10.1 GDPR (EEA, UK)
If you're in the EEA or UK, the legal bases we rely on are your consent (newsletter, certain cookies), legitimate interests (running the Site, analytics, security), and legal obligations.
10.2 CCPA / CPRA (California)
If you're a California resident, you have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense, but some advertising-related data sharing may qualify as "sharing" under the CPRA. You can opt out via our cookie banner.
11. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact hello@liftandbake.com and we will delete it.
12. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.
13. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. International data transfers
The Site is operated from Florida, USA. By using the Site, you consent to your information being transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States.
